John George Campbell performs as Emile DeBecque in SOUTH PACIFIC

TEMECULA, Calif.June 1, 2016PRLog — John George Campbell,  on the heels of performances as Danvers Carew in Jekyll and Hyde, and Big Jule in Guys and Dolls, opens as the frenchman Emile Debecque in the Temecula Valley Players production of Rogers and Hammersteins South Pacific. John sings the  wonderfully romantic classic Some Enchanted Evening, and the powerfully soulful, and bittersweet, This Nearly Was Mine.

Heather Anne performs opposite John, as Nellie Forbush, in the John Edward Clark directed musical theater classic. Sean Thomas Kiralla choreographs, and Karin Gittins provides the musical direction. Other featured actors and actresses are Sonia Watson, as Bloody Mary, Nick Wuebben as Lt. Joe Cable, Kylie Canales as Liat, Devin Collins as Luther Billis, Billy Clebeck as Captain Brackett, Todd Meyer as Commander Harbison, Randall Matsumoto as Lt. Buzz Adams, and Paolo Canestrelli as Stewpot, as well as a strong supporting womens and mens ensemble.

 Notable songs in South Pacific are Some Enchanted Evening, Cockeyed Optimist, Bloody Mary, There is Nothing Like a Dame, I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My hair, I’m in Love With a Wonderful Guy, Bali Hai, Happy Talk, Younger Than Springtime, Honey Bun, You Have to be Carefully Taught, and This Nearly Was Mine.

The show runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30, and Sunday matinees at 2pm, May 26th through  June 12, at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater, in Temecula, California.

      Thank you, Margaret. It’s been one of my favorites too, for quite some time. I’m glad to have the opportunity to sing it in the show. The other solo, This Nearly Was Mine, is also very powerful, and memorable.
